I have been using Biotransform for 10months and it definitely took my Athletics career to the next level. What I love about Biotransform is that I know that my body gets exactly the supplements it needs in the the right quantities. Biotransform also helps to speed up recovery and I can train harder.
I had an amazing year so far and Biontransform definitely played a roll. I set SA Indoor records in the 1500m, 3000m and the 5000m. I also qualified for the World Indoor Championships in the 3000m in Doha, Qatar. I finished 9th in the final and improved my SA indoor record.
It is good to be back home after a 9 week “running holiday” in Europe and USA.
5 Races, 4 Countries, 3 Continents in 1 month was originally the plan when I left South Africa end of May, just in time for the second half of the World Cup Soccer. I got invited to great races, so I decided to stay Europe for another 4weeks, adding Madrid, Lausanne, Heusden, Paris and Monte Carlo to my travel itinerary.
I started my European Safari in Hengelo, Holland, where I was a pacemaker for the former World Champion and World record holder in the 5 000m, Meseret Defar. I went through the 2 000m mark 5,47min and was very relieved that I could stop after halfway.
My next stop was back on African soil, running a 1500m in Rabat at the IAAF World Challenge meeting. It was a very bumpy 1500m and I wasn’t very happy with the 4,10min, because I knew I was in much better shape. Although the race didn’t go according to plan, Morocco was still awesome. We stayed in a very fancy hotel on the beach and the food was great. The day before the meeting we went on a historical sightseeing tour to the city and visited some local markets.
I hopped straight to Paris from Morocco for my last track race, 3000m, before I was heading to the United States for 2 road races. It was an all African 3000m, with athletes from Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania and South Africa of course. The weather was not ideal and I thought I’ll just get this race over and done with. I really surprised myself, finishing 4th and improving my personal best time with 7 seconds to 8,44min. Most of the time we run our best times when we do not expect it and we don’t put any pressure on ourself. Unfortunately there was not time for any sightseeing, but I was able to see the Eiffel Tower from my window, I have to confess, the Eiffel is so huge that you can not miss it. I also spoiled myself with a chocolate nutella crepe (pancake).
I was based in London in between my races in Europe. I was staying with school friends in Wimbledon. I prefer to stay with friends while I’m away from home for weeks or months. It keeps me sane and create a sense of a home feeling, distracting me from running 24/7.
After my race in Paris I flew back to London and then straight to New York for the New York mini 10km in Central Park. The race was packed with Superstars and I was very happy with my 8th position in 32,32min. It is only four seconds of my personal best time and Central Park is a very difficult course.
My next race was the Steamboat Classic in Peoria, Illinois. It was a 4miler race. I finished 5th and was not very happy with my performance. I think all the travel caught up with me. After this race I decided to return to Europe for some more track races. I got into three Diamond League meetings. It is the ultimate for any track athlete to compete in the Diamond Leagues against the World’s best athletes. Unfortunately I had to sacrifice being home to experience the World Cup soccer and I had to send my sister to accompany a friend to the World Cup.
I had an amazing time in Europe, I set a personal best time in the 3000m (8,44min), I also set season’s best times in the 1500m (4,07.56), 5000m (15,44min) and in the 10km (32,32min). I ended my European season in Monaco, experiencing the life of the rich and famous. The following week it was back to reality and back to Africa for the African Championships in Kenya Nairobi, where I finished 8th in the 1500m final.
It’s back to the drawing board and I’m busy to prepare for the Commonwealth Games in October which is held in Delhi, India.
Thanks to Biotransform I am able to travel the world and compete against the world’s best!
