XYLITOL IS A NATURALLY OCCURRING, LOW CARBOHYDRATE SUGAR SUBSTITUTE

Is a naturally occurring sugar substitute found in the fibres of many fruits & vegetables. Originally derived from the Finnish birch tree, it is nowadays widely accepted and recommended as a safe sweetener for people diagnosed with diabetes, insulin resistance and people with hyperglycemia.

  • Commonly referred to as a 'wood-sugar' and has a very low GI of 13, compared to the 100 of sugar
  • Xylitol has indicated dental health benefits, especially dental caries prevention by neutralizing bacteria and fungi in the mounth
  • It contains 40% less calories per serving and 75% less carbs per serving than normal table sugar!
  • It has a great taste and has been proven to reduce cravings.
  • Suitable for diabetics and people following a low-carbohydrate diet
  • Increases  white blood cells that fight infections in the body
  • Safe during pregnancy and lactation

Note: Highly recommended for children programs in the prevention of caries.

Low glycemic index! Xylitol contains 9,5 cal/40 kJ per 4 gram teaspoon serving as compared to one teaspoon of sugar which contains 15 cal/63kJ. Effective

  • Xylitol as a sugar substitute has demonstrated a dramatic reduction in new tooth decay in clinical studies, along with the arrest and in some cases reversal of existing dental caries. It is suggested that the Xylitol effect will be long-lasting and possibly permanent, due to its anti-oxidant activity.

Safe

  • Xylitol has no known toxicity in humans. In the amount needed to prevent tooth decay (<15 grams/day) Xylitol is safe and even benefiting for pregnant and nursing women. It has been shown to increase fat release in the body and it helps fight muscle fatigue and has become very popular in the world of professional athletes recently.

Natural

  • Xylitol is not an artificial substance. Our bodies produce it from food sources like berries, mushrooms and lettuce daily. It is a sugar alcohol that is very slowly absorbed from the small intestines into the blood stream, hence the smaller change in blood sugar levels as seen with regular sugars (sucrose).

Properties

  • It is a white crystalline substance that has a 'noticeable cooling sensation' when it melts in your mouth. It looks like sugar; it tastes like sugar and is part of everyday metabolism. Excessive consumption may have a laxative effect.
